Why You Must Never Buy Pet From Pet Store, Ads Or Online
80The pet store, newspaper ads and website that is trying to sell you the puppies, dogs or kitties are mostly supplied by cruel mass-producing business called puppy mill or kitty milll. To be short I will refer to puppy mill but please note that it can also be applied to kitty mill.
Puppy mill is nothing new. These mass dog-breeding business have been around for decades. They continue to thrive because they prey on unsuspecting consumers who are smitten by cute puppies in pet store windows and fancy websites. But behind the friendly facade of the local pet shop, website or newspaper ad, there often lies a puppy mill. These canine barkyard breeding located mostly in the rural area of the country (often worst than a chicken farm) house dogs in shockingly poor conditions. Please note that the photos from puppy mills at the bottom of the blog is not suitable for children. Do not scroll down if you have a weak heart or stomach.
To maximize profit, one owner will have 200-800 dogs at his or her barkyard all:
* keep in tiny, filthy, wire, poorly-made cages that cut through the paws and bodies
* upon injury or illness the dogs will never see a vet so the breeder can save money
* the breeder see these dogs as a mean to make money not pets so they are never let out of the cages to be walked or washed that their fur become caken by the excrements. In worst cases the fur became solid that the dogs were unable to move their limps. The blood clot, soon the bones died and the limps had to be amputated when the dogs were rescued.
* in order to acquire more dogs for profit cages are pile up on top of each other to save space therefore, leaving the dogs on top with no choice but to pee and poo on the dogs on the bottom day after day
* the "lucky" ones had their vocal cord cut to keep them from crying or barking to be let out of the cages; unlucky ones had pipe shove down their throats
*bleeders who can not afford cages chain dogs in heavy metal chain wrap so tight they tore into the dogs skin
* dogs are fed scrap that cause severe malnutrition, sickness and death inorder to save money
*one tiny dog will breed hundred plus puppies to bring in more profits for the breeder (One tiny rescued dog had nursed so much pups she got several tumors on her stomach!)
* never mind a bed, treat or toy. These dogs will never be out of the cages til they are unable to produce. They are then killed, disposed to make more room for more "breeding stock"
* puppies are separated from their parent as young as six weeks old to bring in quick profit
* many puppies soon died from being born by sickly mothers or while being transported from state to state or internationally
Words can not describe how the horrid and unimaginable cruelty these loving, innocent souls are treated. So please do not be fooled by the cute puppies at the pet store. You may think that you are rescuing those pups but in reality you are just funding this cycle of cruelty. Without anyone buying from pet store, website or newspaper ad puppy mill will not survive.
Adopt instead. It is cheaper, save life, and the canine will actually be healthier because most shelters especially pets from rescue organizations have to examine by a vet and given a clean bill of health before they can be adopted. Make euthanasing shelter your first priority when looking for a pet. Puppies and kittens are placed in gas chambers just 3-5 days that they arrived at the shelter! And one out of four are the perfect purebred or companion that you are looking for. You can search for homeless pets waiting for forever homes by going to www.petfinder.com. At the writing of this blog this web has 331,894 adoptable pets so you will definitely find your best friends here! You can also check out my web: www.urgentpets.org for nationally adoptable in danger pets.
One last final note: Breeders are making profits while tax payers have to pay to euthanize these million of pet each year...think about it.

The purebred greyhound up there looks like a saluki. I maybe wrong, but most purebred greyhounds don't have furry ears or tails.
Oh my poor animals =( yes ur right Summer that proberly is a saluki how do those terrible people have the guts to look at these poor animals? How could that of happened to the pup that was chained its just so sad ='( i wish people were much more..kinder these days, they just want the darn money...=(
Those poor little precious animals... I dont know how people can be so cruel!! I wish I could save them all. How does anyone look at a loving puppy, kitty, dog or cat and decide to be mean to it? They're all so cuddly and they just want to be loved. getting animals fixed should be free everywhere so there are less abused little furballs around... I just can not see how a person could do that...
Poor puppies and kittens. I can't understand how someone could do that, it's awful. I hate seeing those commercials talking about happy pets when they get their dogs from puppy mills.
Sorry, comment posted twice!
how sad..... didn't know this was happening! :(((
OMG!!!! i cant stand this picture!! i wish i had a mansion to take care of all these poor animals!! awwwwwww!!!!
What the hell is wrong with these people! How could you even think about hurting an animal that hasn't done anything to you even if it did you never hurt them. If i ever came across anyone who did that I wouldn't hesitate to put them in jail and have them tortured and killed. This is why I will never forgive that Vick guy. Nobody cares if your sorry for what you did you shouldn't have done it. Were supposed to forgive them because they were drunk upset wrong in the mind. Oh hell no if you were drunk or upset kill yourself you selfish bastards go to hell along with along with all the other animals you murdered.
i wish i could save every animal in the world. but im only one person :C
liveforpets @ Two reasons one should never hesitate saving pets:
1. To the world it is just one pet but to the pet you save you are the world.
2. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. ~ Edward Burke
I have to say, this made me want to cry!I'm actually doing an article about puppy mills myself.you wrote this really wel!i wish there was more that we as individuals could do to stop the abuse these animals take from these people.
If you know someone who is considering purchasing a puppy from a pet store refer that person to this hub. If they still want to purchase a puppy from a pet store have that person committed for mental evaluation. The reason? That person is so delusional he or she is a threat to themselves and to society and to dogs.
Also see what my hubs say about various issues regarding dogs and visit my web site max a pooch dot com;
Our rescue originally came from a puppy mill and then was dumped and she is the most amazing dog. How can people see these animals and not recognize that they feel.
Who wrote this? Most of the information is misleading. Regardless of how horrific mills are (and they are terrible), to say that ALL pet stores are like this is simply not true. In fact, MOST pet stores get their dogs from local breeders, and know exactly where the dogs come from. The breeders actually check back in with the store and owners when the dogs are sold. These mills that are pictured are actually a very small percentage of animals that are mostly the result of hoarding and "backyard breeding". Is it wrong to get a purebred puppy from a store? No, just as long as you do your research. If the store can't tell you exactly where the dog came from, and the name of the breeder, simply look for a dog somewhere else, or better, adopt one from a shelter.
Lauren, doesnt mether, buying will simple mean that a perfectly helty, good and loving pet will be killed or left whitout a home, animals should be seen as what they are, friends and companions, will you leave your best friend to die just because you want to buy one that looks a lil more nice??? they are not merchandise
Lauren I understand your feelings. There are respectable breeders who adore their dogs. And if we can make puppy mills illegal, then those folks will be easier for the average person to identify.
WHO COULD DO THIS!!!

Oh gosh, this is horrible. I hope we can raise others awareness on this issue. Also hope that the governments will do something about this...
